The Martinos Center’s Women in Science is hosting an Open Mic night, December 10th, 2020.
Reflecting back on the year 2020, it has been a year of challenge and growth for us all. We wanted to create a platform for our fierce members to share about a moment where they spoke out and made their voice heard this year. Or, perhaps there’s a moment you wish you had spoken out but for whatever reason, at the time, you couldn’t find the words. We invite you to share with us as we wrap up the year together. It can be against sexism, racism, stereotypes and much more.
If you have something to share, please sign up using this form. Anyone who submits content for the Open Mic event will receive a Women in Science branded surprise with the “I spoke out” logo. Although we invite you to adhere to our theme, there are no restrictions on the format of your content! Submit a story, a poem, a song, an artwork, a video, original or from your favorite artist/person. For those who’d like to speak live, you may do so. Or, we can collect pre-recordings and art pieces in advance to share these live at the event. If you want to remain anonymous, the WiS members will lend you their voice. We also plan to post content to our Women in Science website (with your permission). If you have any other ideas for content, please feel free to share those with us!
If you have any questions, you can contact the organizers Leah (lmorgan6@mgh.harvard.edu) and Caroline (cmagnain@mgh.harvard.edu).
